حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ خَرَشَةَ بْنِ الْحُرِّ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ، انْظُرْ أَرْفَعَ رَجُلٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ " قَالَ: فَنَظَرْتُ، فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: هَذَا. قَالَ: قَالَ لِي: "انْظُرْ أَوْضَعَ رَجُلٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ " قَالَ: فَنَظَرْتُ، فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ أَخْلَاقٌ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: هَذَا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لَهَذَا عِنْدَ اللهِ أَخْيَرُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ مِلْءِ الْأَرْضِ مِثْلِ (٢) هَذَا " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, "Abu Dharr! Look around in the mosque and see who appears to be the most distinguished person." I looked around and saw a man wearing a fine garment, so I pointed towards him. Then he said, "Now look and see who appears to be the lowest in rank." I looked around and saw a man wearing old clothes, so I pointed towards him. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This man, on the Day of Resurrection, will be better in the sight of Allah than the first man, even if the earth is filled with the likes of the first man."
