Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيُّ مَسْجِدٍ وُضِعَ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَوَّلُ؟ قَالَ: "الْمَسْجِدُ الْحَرَامُ " قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ: "ثُمَّ الْمَسْجِدُ الْأَقْصَى " قُلْتُ: كَمْ بَيْنَهُمَا؟ قَالَ: "أَرْبَعُونَ سَنَةً " قُلْتُ:، ، ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ: "ثُمَّ حَيْثُمَا أَدْرَكْتَ الصَّلَاةَ فَصَلِّ، فَكُلُّهَا مَسْجِدٌ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I asked the Holy Prophet (ﷺ): "Which was the first mosque built on earth?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "Masjid al-Haram." I asked: "Then which one?" He replied: "Masjid al-Aqsa." I asked: "What was the interval between the two?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "Forty years." I asked: "Then which mosque?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "Then, wherever you find the time for prayer, perform it there, for the whole earth is a mosque."
