حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَمَّنْ، حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أُمِّ وَلَدِ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ: أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: "مَتَى عَهْدُكَ بِأُمِّ مِلْدَمٍ؟ " وَهُوَ حَرٌّ بَيْنَ الْجِلْدِ وَاللَّحْمِ، قَالَ: إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَوَجَعٌ مَا أَصَابَنِي قَطُّ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَثَلُ الْخَامَةِ تَحْمَرُّ مَرَّةً، وَتَصْفَرُّ أُخْرَى " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), so the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "How long has it been since you recovered from Umm Mildam (fever)?" He replied, "I have never had this ailment." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The example of a Muslim is like that of a grain which is sometimes red and sometimes yellow."
