حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَشْكَابٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مَعْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ، " يَحُكُّ الْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ مِنْ مَصَاحِفِهِ، وَيَقُولُ: إِنَّهُمَا لَيْسَتَا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللهِ "، (٢)، ، قَالَ الْأَعْمَشُ: وَحَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْنَا عَنْهُمَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "فَقِيلَ لِي، فَقُلْتُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Zirr says that I asked Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says regarding the Mu'awwidhatayn (that these are not part of the Qur'an, and that is why he does not write them in his copy?). Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) replied that we asked the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) about these Surahs, so the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: I have been commanded to say ( "Qul" — say), therefore I say it. Thus, whatever the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, we also say.
