English translation
It is narrated from Abu Zaid Ansari that on the day of Eid al-Adha, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was passing between our houses when he smelled the aroma of roasted meat. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Who has slaughtered an animal?" One of us came out and said, "O Messenger of Allah, eating on this day is a necessity, so I slaughtered my animal so that I could eat myself and also feed my neighbors." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Offer the sacrifice again." He said, "By Him besides whom there is no other deity, I have only a six-month-old kid or a pregnant goat." He said this sentence three times, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Then slaughter that, but after you, it will not suffice for anyone else."
