حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ تَغْلِبَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنِّي أُعْطِي، ، أَقْوَامًا، وَأَرُدُّ آخَرِينَ، وَالَّذِينَ أَدَعُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُعْطِي، أُعْطِي أَقْوَامًا لِمَا أَخَافُ مِنْ هَلَعِهِمْ وَجَزَعِهِمْ وَأَكِلُ أَقْوَامًا إِلَى مَا جَعَلَ اللهُ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مِنَ الْغِنَى وَالْخَيْرِ، مِنْهُمْ عَمْرُو بْنُ تَغْلِبَ "، قَالَ: قَالَ عَمْرٌو فَوَاللهِ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي بِكَلِمَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، حُمْرَ النَّعَمِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Amr bin Taghlib that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I give to some people and leave out others, even though the one I leave out is more beloved to me than the one to whom I give. I give to some people only because their hearts are filled with impatience and miserliness, and I entrust some people to the richness and goodness that Allah has placed in their hearts. Among them is Amr bin Taghlib as well. At that time, I was sitting right in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him). I would not like to have red camels in exchange for this statement of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
