حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ؟ قَالَ: " مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ، وَحَسُنَ عَمَلُهُ "، قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ النَّاسِ شَرٌّ؟ قَالَ: " مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ، وَسَاءَ عَمَلُهُ "، (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man presented himself in the court of the Messenger and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which person is the best?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "The one whose life is long and whose deeds are good." The questioner asked, "And who is the worst person?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "The one whose life is long and whose deeds are bad."
