حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: حَدَّثَنَا (٢) عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ، قَالَ: " أَخَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ تِسْعَ لَيَالٍ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: ثَمَانِ لَيَالٍ، إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ "، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَوْ أَنَّكَ عَجَّلْتَ لَكَانَ أَمْثَلَ لِقِيَامِنَا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، قَالَ: " فَعَجَّلَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ "، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، فَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: تِسْعَ لَيَالٍ (٣) ، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ: سَبْعَ (٤) لَيَالٍ (٥)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) delayed the Isha prayer until one third of the night for nine nights. Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah, if you would lead this prayer earlier, it would make standing in the night (qiyam al-layl) easier for us." Thereafter, the Prophet (ﷺ) began to lead it earlier.
