Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، وَحَسَنٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِلَالٍ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ هُوَ الْحَسَنُ، إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ، عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، قَالَ: " لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْءٌ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " اللهُمَّ غُفْرًا، لَا بَلِ (٢) النِّسَاءُ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Ma'qil narrates that nothing was more beloved to the Prophet (peace be upon him) than horses. Then he said, "O Allah, forgive me, rather women."
