حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي الْحَرْبِيَّ (٢) السِّمْسَارَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ الْعُطَارِدِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ بْنِ عَرْفَجَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: (٣) أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلَابِ، يَعْنِي مَاءً، اقْتَتَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ قَالَ فِي آخِرِهِ: فَاتَّخَذْتُ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ: فَمَا أَنْتَنَ عَلَيَّ (٤) (٥)، ، •
Translation
English translation
Abdullah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Uthman—meaning al-Jarbi as-Simsar—narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Hayyan al-'Ataridi, from Abdur-Rahman ibn Tarafah ibn 'Arfajah, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: His nose was injured on the Day of al-Kulab—meaning a water source over which they fought in the Jahiliyyah—so he mentioned something similar, and he said: "How foul it is upon me..."
