Abdur Rahman bin Tarafah narrates that his grandfather, Arfajah, lost his nose on the occasion of "Yawm Kalab" during the time of ignorance. He had a nose made of silver, but it developed a bad smell, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted him to have a nose made of gold.
