Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ (٥) بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ،، ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَطَعَ عَلَيْهِ خُطْبَتَهُ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا تَقُولُ فِي الضِّبَابِ؟ فَقَالَ: " مُسِخَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، فَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ فِي أَيِّ الدَّوَابِّ مُسِخَتْ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering a sermon when a Bedouin came and started asking questions during the sermon. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the lizard?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A community among the Children of Israel had their forms transformed. Now I do not know which animal's forms were transformed."
