Translation

English translation

Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would observe silence twice during the prayer: once at the beginning of the prayer and once before bowing (ruku‘) and after the recitation. Imran bin Husain said that he did not remember this regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Both of them wrote a letter to Ubayy bin Ka‘b about this matter, in which they asked him about this issue. Ubayy bin Ka‘b replied, "I affirm what Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) has said."
