Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، قَالَ: صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصُّبْحَ، فَقَالَ: " هَاهُنَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ بَنِي فُلَانٍ "، قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ مُحْتَبَسٌ عَلَى بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ فِي دَيْنٍ عَلَيْهِ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) led the Fajr prayer, and after the prayer he said, "Is there anyone here from such-and-such tribe?" They replied, "Yes! (We are present)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Your companion (who has passed away) has been held back at the gate of Paradise because of a debt he owed, so pay off his debt."
