حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ مُرَيِّ بْنِ قَطَرِيٍّ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ أَبِي كَانَ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ، وَيَفْعَلُ وَيَفْعَلُ، فَهَلْ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ يَعْنِي مِنْ أَجْرٍ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّ أَبَاكَ طَلَبَ أَمْرًا، فَأَصَابَهُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Adi that once I submitted in the court of the Messenger, "O Messenger of Allah! My father used to maintain ties of kinship and do such and such deeds." The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Your father had one objective (fame) which he achieved."
