حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، وَحَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي الْمُجَالِدِ قَالَ: اخْتَلَفَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ وَأَبُو بُرْدَةَ فِي السَّلَفِ، فَبَعَثَانِي إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ: " كُنَّا نُسْلِفُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُم فِي الْحِنْطَةِ وَالشَّعِيرِ وَالزَّبِيبِ أَوِ التَّمْرِ، شَكَّ فِي التَّمْرِ وَالزَّبِيبِ، وَمَا هُوَ عِنْدَهُمْ، أَوْ مَا نَرَاهُ عِنْدَهُمْ " ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبْزَى فَقَالَ: مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
Abdullah bin Abi Mujahid says that there was a difference of opinion between Abdullah bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the issue of credit sale. Both of them sent me to Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him). I asked him about this issue, and he said: In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the two Shaykhs (may Allah be pleased with them), we used to sell wheat, barley, raisins, or whatever things people had, on credit. Then I went to Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him), and he also said the same thing.
