English translation
Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we used to discuss among ourselves that on the occasion of the Battle of Badr, the number of the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) was equal to the number of the companions of Talut, "who were present at the time of the battle with Jalut," which was three hundred and thirteen. These companions of Talut were the same ones who crossed the river with him, and only that person was able to cross the river who was a believer.
