Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، (١) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، أَوْ غَيْرِهِ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِالْعَبَّاسِ قَدْ أَسَرَهُ، فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَيْسَ هَذَا أَسَرَنِي، أَسَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ أَنْزِعُ مِنْ هَيْئَتِهِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلرَّجُلِ: " لَقَدْ آزَرَكَ اللهُ بِمَلَكٍ كَرِيمٍ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) that an Ansari man brought Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) as a prisoner (on the occasion of the Battle of Badr). Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! This person did not capture me; rather, I was captured by another man, of whose appearance I remember such and such things." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to that person, "Allah helped you through a noble angel."
