حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، قَالَ: يَعْنِي كُنْتُ أَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ عَنْ حَدِيثِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، وَهُوَ إِلَى جَنْبِي لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ (٢) بُعِثَ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ (٣)، ،

English translation
Yunus narrated to us, Hammad—meaning Ibn Zayd—narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, from Abu Ubaydah ibn Hudhayfah, from a man, who said: I used to ask people about the hadith of Adi ibn Hatim, while he was beside me and I did not ask him about it. So I went to him and asked him, and he said: Yes, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was sent when he was sent, and he mentioned the hadith...
