حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا نُرْسِلُ كِلَابَنَا مُعَلَّمَاتٍ، قَالَ: " كُلْ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَإِنْ قَتَلَ؟ قَالَ: " وَإِنْ قَتَلَ، مَا لَمْ يَشْرَكْهَا كِلَابٌ غَيْرُهَا "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَإِنَّا نَرْمِي بِالمِعْرَاضِ (١) ، قَالَ: " إِنْ خَزَقَ فَكُلْ، وَإِنْ أَصَابَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), we release our trained dogs on the hunt?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Eat of what they catch for you." I asked, "Even if it kills it?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Yes, provided that no other dogs have joined with it." I asked about the game that dies by the broad side of an arrow, so the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If you kill the game with the sharp edge of your arrow, then you may eat it, but if you kill it with the broad side of the arrow, do not eat it."
