Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Thabit bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Prophet (ﷺ) on a military expedition. We hunted a lizard, and people began to cook and roast it. I also took a lizard, roasted it, and brought it to the Prophet (ﷺ) and placed it before him. The Prophet (ﷺ) turned it over with a stick and said, "A form of one of the animals among the Children of Israel was transformed; I do not know which animal it was." I submitted, "People are roasting and eating it." The Prophet (ﷺ) neither ate it himself nor forbade others from eating it.
