حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدًا، عَنْ عُبَيِدِ اللهِ، أَوْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ كَرِيزٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: دُعِيَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ إِلَى خِتَانٍ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يُجِيبَ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّا كُنَّا لَا نَأْتِي الْخِتَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا نُدْعَى لَهُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Uthman bin Abi Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) was invited to the circumcision of a child, but he refused to go. When someone asked the reason, he replied that in the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ), we neither used to go to such occasions nor did anyone invite us.
