English translation
It is narrated from Laqit bin Sabrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I, along with a companion, presented myself in the service of the Prophet (ﷺ), but did not find the Prophet (ﷺ) there. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) served us dates and prepared food for us by mixing ghee and flour. Meanwhile, the Prophet (ﷺ) also arrived, bending as he walked, and said, "Have you eaten anything?" We replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" During this, a shepherd from the goat pen presented a kid goat before the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Has the goat given birth?" He said, "Yes!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then slaughter a goat," and turning towards us, said, "Do not think that we have slaughtered it only because of you, but the fact is that we have a herd of goats. When the number of goats reaches one hundred, we slaughter one from them. We do not want their number to exceed one hundred." I said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), tell me about ablution (wudu)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When you perform ablution, do it thoroughly and pass your fingers through (the gaps of) your fingers, and when you put water in your nose, do it thoroughly, except when you are fasting." I said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), my wife is very sharp-tongued and foul-mouthed." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Divorce her." I said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), she has been with me for a long time and I have children from her." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then keep her with you and keep advising her. If there is any good in her, she will accept your advice. But do not beat your wife like you would beat your slave-girl."
