حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ بِمِصْرَ يَقُولُ: " مَا أَبْعَدَ هَدْيَكُمْ مِنْ هَدْيِ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَمَّا هُوَ فَكَانَ أَزْهَدَ النَّاسِ فِي الدُّنْيَا " وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَأَرْغَبُ النَّاسِ فِيهَا (٣)، ،

Translation

English translation

Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) once, while delivering a sermon in Egypt, said to the people: "How far you have gone from the way of your Prophet (ﷺ)? He was extremely disinterested in the world, while you hold the world extremely dear and desirable."
