حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ، يَقُولُ: بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " خُذْ عَلَيْكَ ثِيَابَكَ وَسِلَاحَكَ، ثُمَّ ائْتِنِي " فَأَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ، فَصَعَّدَ فِيَّ النَّظَرَ ثُمَّ طَأْطَأَهُ، فَقَالَ: " إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَبْعَثَكَ عَلَى جَيْشٍ فَيُسَلِّمَكَ اللهُ وَيُغْنِمَكَ، وَأَزْعبُ لَكَ مِنَ الْمَالِ رَغْبَةً صَالِحَةً ". قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا أَسْلَمْتُ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْمَالِ، وَلَكِنِّي أَسْلَمْتُ زَعْبَةً، ، فِي الْإِسْلَامِ، وَأَنْ أَكُونَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. فَقَالَ: " يَا عَمْرُو، نِعْمًا بِالْمَالِ الصَّالِحُ لِلرَّجُلِ الصَّالِحِ (١) " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) sent a message to me to come to him dressed in my clothes and armed. When I presented myself, the Prophet (ﷺ) was performing ablution. The Prophet (ﷺ) looked at me from head to toe, then lowered his gaze and said, "It is my intention to appoint you as the commander of an army and send you forth. Allah will bring you back safe and with spoils of war, and I desire good wealth for you." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! (ﷺ) I did not accept Islam for the sake of wealth and riches. I accepted Islam with heartfelt desire and for the purpose that I may attain the company of the Prophet (ﷺ)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "How excellent is lawful wealth for a righteous man." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
