Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Tomorrow I will ride and go to the Jews, therefore do not initiate greeting them with Salam, and when they greet you, then you should only say 'Wa Alaikum'." Abdul Hameed bin Ja'ir and Ibn Lahi'ah have mentioned the name Abu Basrah instead of Abu Abdur Rahman in the aforementioned hadith. The previous hadith is also narrated from Abu Asim. The son of Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that by this is meant Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him).
