حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ - قَالَ يَزِيدُ - وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ، وَلَكِنَّهُمَا آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ تَعَالَى، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمَا فَصَلُّوا " (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of anyone's death (or life); these two are signs of Allah. So when you see them eclipsed, then perform prayer."
