حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ أَوْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَة، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ فِيكُمْ، وَإِنَّكُمْ وُلَاتُهُ، وَلَنْ يَزَالَ فِيكُمْ حَتَّى تُحْدِثُوا أَعْمَالًا، فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُمْ ذَلِكَ بَعَثَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ شَرَّ خَلْقِهِ فَيَلْتَحِيكُمْ كَمَا يُلْتَحَى الْقَضِيبُ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to us while delivering a sermon: “This government will remain in your hands and you will be rulers over it, and it will remain so as long as you do not introduce innovations. When you begin to do so, Allah will send upon you the worst of His creation, who will strip you away like wood is stripped.”
