حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَامِرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، يَقُولُ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ: " تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ " " وَتُوُفِّيَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ " " وَتُوُفِّيَ عُمَرُ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ " قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ: " وَأَنَا الْيَوْمَ في (١) ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
Jarir says that I heard Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying during a sermon that when the Prophet (ﷺ) passed away, he was sixty-three years old; when Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, he was also sixty-three years old; when Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, he was also sixty-three years old; and now I too have reached sixty-three years of age.
