حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ، قَالَ: خَطَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ، عَلَى مِنْبَرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ مِنْبَرِ الْمَدِينَةِ، فَأَخْرَجَ كُبَّةً مِنْ شَعَرٍ، قَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنَّ أَحَدًا يَفْعَلُ هَذَا غَيْرَ الْيَهُودِ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " سَمَّاهُ الزُّورَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that once, in Madinah Munawwarah, Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came and delivered a sermon to us, in which he took out a bunch of hair and showed it, and said: "I think that only the Jews do this. When the Prophet (ﷺ) came to know of this, he called it 'falsehood'."
