حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ عَنَزَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ: " اللهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ (١) بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا، اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: مَا هَمْزُهُ؟ قَالَ: فَذَكَرَ كَهَيْئَةِ الْمُوتَةِ - يَعْنِي يَصْرَعُ -. قُلْتُ: فَمَا نَفْخُهُ؟ قَالَ: " الْكِبْرُ " قُلْتُ: فَمَا نَفْثُهُ؟، قَالَ: " الشِّعْرُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jubair bin Mut’im that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) in the voluntary prayers recite three times: Allahu Akbar Kabira, three times: Walhamdulillahi Kathira, and three times: Subhanallahi Bukratan wa Aseela, and he would recite this supplication: O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil suggestions, spitting, and blowing of the accursed Satan. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by the evil suggestions, spitting, and blowing? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The evil suggestions refer to the death that seizes the son of Adam, the blowing refers to arrogance, and the spitting refers to poetry.
