Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَطَلْحَةَ، وَالزُّبَيْرِ، وَسَعْدٍ: نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللهِ الَّذِي تَقُومُ بِهِ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ - وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: الَّذِي بِإِذْنِهِ تَقُومُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ - أَعَلِمْتُمِ أنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " إِنَّا لَا، ، نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ " قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Malik bin Aws:
I heard "Umar say to ‘Abdur-Rahmam, Talhah, az-Zubair and Sa"d: I adjure you by Allah, by Whose power heaven and earth exist - and he said on one occasion: by Whose leave heaven and earth exist - do you know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "We [Prophet (ﷺ)] are not to be inherited from; what we leave behind is charity"? They said. By Allah, yes.
