حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ مُجْمِرٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " سَلْنِي أُعْطِكَ "، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَنْظِرْنِي أَنْظُرْ فِي أَمْرِي، قَالَ: " فَانْظُرْ فِي أَمْرِكَ "، قَالَ: فَنَظَرْتُ فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ أَمْرَ الدُّنْيَا يَنْقَطِعُ فَلَا أَرَى شَيْئًا خَيْرًا مِنْ شَيْءٍ آخُذُهُ لِنَفْسِي لِآخِرَتِي، فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " مَا (١) حَاجَتُكَ؟ "، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، اشْفَعْ لِي إِلَى رَبِّكَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَلْيُعْتِقْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ، فَقَالَ: " مَنْ أَمَرَكَ بِهَذَا؟ "، فَقُلْتُ: لَا وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا أَمَرَنِي بِهِ أَحَدٌ، وَلَكِنِّي نَظَرْتُ فِي أَمْرِي فَرَأَيْتُ أَنَّ الدُّنْيَا زَائِلَةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا، فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ آخُذَ لِآخِرَتِي، قَالَ: " فَأَعِنِّي عَلَى نَفْسِكَ بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Rabi’ah bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: Ask, I will grant you. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Give me some time to think. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: You may think it over. I thought that the life of this world will pass away anyway, so I did not find anything better for myself than the Hereafter. Thus, I presented myself before the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked: What is your need? I said: O Messenger of Allah! Please intercede with your Lord for me so that He grants me a certificate of freedom from Hell. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked: Who told you this? I said: O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, no one explained this to me, but I myself reflected on my situation that the world is even taken away from the people of the world, so I thought to make a request for the Hereafter. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Then help me by increasing your prostrations.
