حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، وَحَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي، ، شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَقَالَ: ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قال (١) : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفًا، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: أَنْتَ سَيِّدُ قُرَيْشٍ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " السَّيِّدُ اللهُ "، فَقَالَ: أَنْتَ أَفْضَلُهَا فِيهَا قَوْلًا، وَأَعْظَمُهَا فِيهَا طَوْلًا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لِيَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِقَوْلِهِ وَلَا يَسْتَجِرَّنَّهُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَوِ الشَّيَاطِينُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Shukhair that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "You are the chief and master of the Quraysh." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The true Master is Allah alone." The man said, "You are the most virtuous among the Quraysh in terms of speech and the greatest in generosity and magnanimity." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Say such words that Satan does not mislead you and gain dominance over you."
