Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ،، ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَشْيَاخَنَا، مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ، قَالُوا: أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أُمَّ قَوْمَكَ، وَإِذَا أَمَمْتَ (١) قَوْمَكَ فَأَخِفَّ بِهِمُ الصَّلَاةَ، فَإِنَّهُ يَقُومُ فِيهَا الصَّغِيرُ وَالْكَبِيرُ وَالضَّعِيفُ وَالْمَرِيضُ، وَذُو الْحَاجَةِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Uthman that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Lead your people in prayer, and when you lead, make the prayer short, for among the people are children, the elderly, the weak, the sick, and those with needs. And when you pray alone, pray as you wish.
