English translation
It is narrated from Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade us from eating the meat of sacrifice for more than three days: Once, I went on a journey, and when I returned home, only a few days had passed since Eid al-Adha. My wife brought beetroot cooked with meat. I asked her where this meat came from. She replied that it was from the sacrifice. I said to her, "Did not the Prophet (ﷺ) forbid us from eating it for more than three days?" She said, "The Prophet (ﷺ) later permitted it." I did not confirm this and sent a man to my brother, Qatadah bin Nu'man, who was a participant in Badr, to ask about this issue. He sent back the reply: "You may eat it; your wife is correct. The Prophet (ﷺ) gave permission to the Muslims regarding this."
