أَخْبَرَنَا (١) سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، سَمِعَ بُشَيْرَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ، مَوْلَى بَنِي حَارِثَةَ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: هَذَا حَدِيثُ ابْنِ حَارِثَةَ، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ، وَوُجِدَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَهْلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَتِيلًا فِي قَلِيبٍ مِنْ قُلُبِ خَيْبَرَ، فَجَاءَ عَمَّاهُ، وَأَخُوهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخُوهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، وَعَمَّاهُ حُوَيِّصَةُ وَمُحَيِّصَةُ فَذَهَبَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَتَكَلَّمُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " الْكِبَرَ، الْكِبَرَ "، فَتَكَلَّمَ أَحَدُ عَمَّيْهِ - إِمَّا حُوَيِّصَةُ، وَإِمَّا مُحَيِّصَةُ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: نَسِيتُ أَيُّهُمَا (٢) الْكَبِيرُ مِنْهُمَا - فَقَالَا (٣) : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا عَبْدَ اللهِ قَتِيلًا فِي قَلِيبٍ مِنْ قُلُبِ خَيْبَرَ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ يَهُودَ وَشَرَّهُمْ وَعَدَاوَتَهُمْ، قَالَ: " لِيُقْسِمْ مِنْكُمْ خَمْسُونَ: إِنَّ يَهُودَ قَتَلَتْهُ " قَالُوا: كَيْفَ نُقْسِمُ عَلَى مَا لَمْ نَرَ؟ قَالَ: " فَتُبْرِئُكُمْ يَهُودُ بِخَمْسِينَ يَحْلِفُونَ أَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَقْتُلُوهُ " (٤) قَالُوا: كَيْفَ نَرْضَى بِأَيْمَانِهِمْ، وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ، قَالَ: فَوَدَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ، فَرَكَضَتْنِي بَكْرَةٌ مِنْها (٥) ، قِيلَ: لِسُفْيَانَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ: " وَتَسْتَحِقُّونَ دَمَ صَاحِبِكُمْ؟ "، ، قَالَ: هُوَ ذَا (١)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Sahl that once Abdullah bin Sahl Ansari was found dead in the middle of Khaybar. His two cousins came to the Prophet (ﷺ); their brother's name was Abdur Rahman bin Sahl and the uncles' names were Huwayyisah and Muhayyisah. Abdur Rahman began to speak before the Prophet (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Let the elders speak." Thus, one of their uncles began to speak—I have forgotten which of them was the elder—and said, "O Messenger of Allah! We found Abdullah's body in the heart of Khaybar." Then they mentioned the evil and enmity of the Jews. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Fifty men from among you should swear an oath that the Jews killed him." They said, "How can we swear an oath about something we have not seen with our own eyes?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Then fifty Jews should swear an oath to declare their innocence and say that they did not kill him." They said, "O Messenger of Allah! How can we trust their oath? They are polytheists." Upon this, the Prophet (ﷺ) paid the blood money from his own side. One of the young camels from that blood money kicked me on the leg.
