Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Thabit that once Umar brought a book to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I passed by one of my brothers from Banu Qurayza, and he wrote for me some comprehensive statements from the Torah. Should I present them before you?" Upon this, the color of the blessed face of the Prophet (peace be upon him) changed. I said to Umar, "Do you not see the face of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" Seeing this, Umar said, "We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad as our Messenger." Then the Prophet's (peace be upon him) state subsided, and he said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if Musa were alive and you followed him, leaving me, you would surely go astray. You are my share among the nations, and I am your share among the Prophets."
