English translation

It is narrated from Sa’ib bin Yazid that in the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, there was no custom of delivering sermons. The first person to deliver sermons was Tamim Dari. He sought permission from Umar to stand among the people and deliver sermons, and Umar granted him permission.
