Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ نُبَيْهٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْقَرَّاظُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعْدَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ أرَادَ أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ بِدَهْمٍ - أَوْ بِسُوءٍ - أَذَابَهُ اللهُ كَمَا يَذُوبُ الْمِلْحُ فِي الْمَاءِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Abu ‘Abdullah al-Qarraz said: I heard Sa"d bin Malik say:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “Whoever wishes for major calamity for- or wills ill towards - the people of Madinah, Allah will cause him to melt as salt dissolves in water."
