حَدِيثُ جَدِّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ (١) (٢)، ١٥٤٠٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ (٣) بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،، ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: كَانَ لَهُمْ غُلَامٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ: طَهْمَانُ - أَوْ ذَكْوَانُ - فَأَعْتَقَ جَدُّهُ نِصْفَهُ، فَجَاءَ الْعَبْدُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " تُعْتَقُ (١) فِي عِتْقِكَ، وَتُرَقُّ (٢) فِي رِقِّكَ " قَالَ: وَكَانَ يَخْدِمُ سَيِّدَهُ حَتَّى مَاتَ، (٣)، ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ: وَكَانَ عُمَرُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَوْشَبٍ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ismail's grandfather that he had a slave whose name was Tahman or Dhakwan. He set him half free. The slave came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "You are free in your freedom and a slave in your slavery." Thus, he continued to serve his master until his master's death.
