It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu Talha's (may Allah be pleased with him) son was ill, and he passed away. His wife, Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her), instructed the household that none of them should inform Abu Talha of his son's death. When Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) returned, dinner was placed before him; he ate and drank water. Then Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) adorned herself well. Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) was intimate with her. When she saw that he was fully satisfied, she said to him, "O Abu Talha! Tell me, if some people borrow something and benefit from it, and then the owners demand its return, can they refuse?" He replied, "No." She said, "Then be patient over your son." In the morning, he went to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and mentioned the whole incident. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "May Allah bless you both in this night." As a result, she became pregnant and eventually gave birth to a boy. She said to me, "Anas! Take him first to the Prophet (ﷺ)." So in the morning, I took the child to the Prophet (ﷺ). I saw that the Prophet (ﷺ) was applying tar to his camels. As soon as the Prophet (ﷺ) saw me, he said, "Perhaps a child has been born to Umm Sulaim?" I replied, "Yes!" and placed the child in the lap of the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) called for some Ajwa dates, took a date, chewed it in his mouth to soften it, gathered the saliva, and put it into the child's mouth, which he began to suck. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Dates are a beloved thing to the Ansar," and named him Abdullah. Among the Ansar, there was no youth better than him.
