Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: " تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَفِيَّةَ "، فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتٌ: مَا أَصْدَقَهَا؟ قَالَ: " أَصْدَقَهَا نَفْسَهَا، أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) married Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her). Thabit asked, "What did the Prophet (ﷺ) give her as mahr (dowry)?" He replied that the Prophet (ﷺ) considered her freedom itself as her mahr and married her.
