Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنِ الشُّرْبِ قَائِمًا "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَالْأَكْلُ؟ قَالَ: " ذَاكَ أَشَدُّ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade drinking while standing. I asked about eating (while standing), so he said: "That is even more severe than this."
