حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، وَحَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ الْعَبْدُ مِنِّي شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ (٢) ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي (٣) ذِرَاعًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ (٤) بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي، أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً " (٥)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah Almighty says, "If My servant comes near to Me by a span, I come near to him by a cubit; and if he comes near to Me by a cubit, I come near to him by a fathom; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running."
