حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَادَ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَقَالَ: " يَا خَالُ، قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ "، قَالَ: خَالٌ أَمْ عَمٌّ؟ قَالَ: " بَلْ خَالٌ "، قَالَ: وَخَيْرٌ لِي أَنْ أَقُولَهَا؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ " (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) went to visit an Ansari man who was ill and said to him, "Uncle! Affirm that there is no god but Allah." He said, "Uncle or paternal uncle?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "No, uncle, say there is no god but Allah." He asked, "Is this better for me?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Yes!"
