English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) stayed for three days between Khaybar and Madinah Munawwarah and had seclusion with Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her). I invited the Muslims to the wedding feast (walimah) of the Prophet (ﷺ). There was neither bread nor meat in it. The Prophet (ﷺ) ordered us to spread a dining cloth, and dates, cheese, and clarified butter were brought and placed on it. This was the walimah of the Prophet (ﷺ). The Muslims began to talk among themselves, wondering whether Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) would be among the Mothers of the Believers or among the slave women. Then they themselves said that if the Prophet (ﷺ) made her observe the veil, she would be among the Mothers of the Believers, and if he did not make her observe the veil, she would be among the slave women. So when the Prophet (ﷺ) departed, he helped her mount the ride from behind and drew a veil between the people and her.
