حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: فُزِّعَ النَّاسُ، فَرَكِبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَسًا لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ بَطِيئًا، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ يَرْكُضُ وَحْدَهُ، فَرَكِبَ النَّاسُ يَرْكُضُونَ خَلْفَهُ، فَقَالَ: " لَمْ تُرَاعُوا إِنَّهُ لَبَحْرٌ "، قَالَ: فَوَاللهِ مَا سُبِقَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, during the night, the people of Madinah were alarmed due to fear of an enemy. The Prophet (ﷺ) mounted a slow-paced horse belonging to Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) and set out alone, urging it forward. The people also mounted their horses and followed behind the Prophet (ﷺ). They saw that the Prophet (ﷺ) was returning and was saying to the people, "There is nothing to be afraid of, do not be alarmed." And regarding the horse, he said, "We found it as swift as the sea. By Allah, after that, no horse could surpass it."
