Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، فَذَكَرَ حَدِيثًا، قَالَ: وَأَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " هَذَا ابْنُ آدَمَ، وَهَذَا أَجَلُهُ، وَثَمَّ أَمَلُهُ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) placed his fingers on the ground and said: "This is the son of Adam." Then he lifted them and placed them a little behind and said: "This is his death." Then he moved his hand forward and said three times: "These are his hopes."
