حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ (٢) جَنَازَةٌ، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَجَبَتْ "، ثُمَّ مُرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِجِنَازَةٍ أُخْرَى، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَجَبَتْ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: (٣) " أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ " (٤)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a funeral passed in front of the Prophet (ﷺ), and someone praised the deceased, and the people praised him. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It has become obligatory." Then another funeral passed, and the people spoke ill of the deceased. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It has become obligatory." Then he said, "You are Allah's witnesses on the earth."
